And they all lived happily ever after… at taxpayer expense. My first reaction to news that we were housing al-Qaida and Taliban prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba was: WE'RE TAKING PRISONERS? Excuse me, but I thought that the purpose of this very expensive operation over in Afghanistan was to rid the world of Islamic terrorists, not feed, clothe and house them at taxpayer expense. It certainly doesn't say much for the efficiency of the United States Air Force, or their grossly overpriced technological marvels of mass destruction, that there is anything still alive in the rubble over there. And, how about the troops on the ground? If they can't hit a guy who is standing up with his hands in the air, we'd better take this "New Action Army" concept back to the drawing board. Don't they teach these guys to shoot any more? While we're at it, how about all you knee-jerk liberal types out there getting off our back about the mistreatment of a bunch of losers who shouldn't still be alive in the first place? We don't need no stinking Geneva Convention! We treat all prisons like visiting (expletive deleted) royalty because we're the GOOD GUYS. The instructions that came with the "White Hat" clearly state that good guys don't mistreat prisoners, no matter what their status. If we were torturing and/or abusing prisoners, even psychologically, however unprotected by international law, we'd be no better than the filthy, stinking, low-life enemy we despise so much. Accordingly, I have no doubt that they are being treated at least as well as any serial killer and/or child molester in one of our luxurious state and/or federal prisons - to include nice big private cells, cable TV, a well stocked commissary, extensive recreational facilities, and a copious amount of leisure time in which to hone their criminal skills. So there! There is an amusing side to all of this. That being the political fairy story about why they sent these guys to Cuba in the first place. Dangerous? Gimme' a break! The fact that they are still alive precludes their being any sort of proper little Islamic "holy warriors." No self-respecting pseudo-religious suicidal nutcase would ever allow himself to be taken alive. What would Allah think? For this Jihad thing to have any credibility whatsoever, all these guys could possibly be are a bunch on pitiable losers they found cringing in the rubble. About the only thing dangerous about them is the fact that they might have trampled some of our troops in their panic to surrender. Personally, I think the government is hiding them in Cuba to keep the American people from finding out what kind of pathetic sissies al-Qaida and the Taliban really are. I mean, its hard for a government to look macho if its obvious that all they're doing is just picking on a bunch of limp-wristed little girly-terrorists. Then again, if they were to "escape," we'd have the excuse we've always wanted to invade Cuba. Hmmm, maybe our government isn't as stupid as I thought. |
